How I got into this.

I’m Zack. I grow rare plants in Hickory, North Carolina. At some point there were more of them than I could keep, so now I sell the extras.

Growing since 2019 Licensed nursery Hickory, NC Ships US, not AK or HI

that’s the whole origin story, honestly

Everything here started as a cutting, a single leaf, or a piece split off a bigger plant, and I grew it up from there. Nothing is bought in and flipped. If it’s on this site, I grew it, I know what it’s been through, and I can tell you what it wants.

Some of these I’ve got down cold. Some I’m still figuring out, and I’ll tell you which is which. What I learn goes in the guides, the failures included, because that’s the part nobody writes up. If you’re near Hickory you can skip the box entirely and just come pick things up.

the regulars ↓
the slow onesDioscoreaPink Pixel and Gamma Ray. The fat woody base (the caudex) takes years to put on size and there’s no shortcut, which is the entire point.
easy modeButterwortsPinguicula. They eat your fungus gnats and ask for almost nothing back.
the vaultHeirloom orchidsSplit off plants from a collection someone put together in the 1970s. Nobody sells these anymore.
local onlyThe outdoor stuffHydrangea, crape myrtle, sarracenia. They don’t ship well and I won’t pretend otherwise.
rotating castEverything elseAlocasia, begonias, syngoniums, philodendrons, whatever I’m trialling this year. It changes. What I’ve got is the real list.

Ask me anything.

I’d genuinely rather you keep a plant alive than come back and buy another one. If something’s going wrong, send a photo.
